Shortlist Music Prize Finalists Announced

The Shortlist organization announced the ten finalists for the Shortlist Music Prize, a award that recognizes the most creative and adventurous albums of the year. Those who made the cut from a total of 61 nominations are Band of Horses, Beirut, Bonnie Prince Billy, Cat Power, Girl Talk, Hot Chip, Joanna Newsom, Regina Spektor, Spank Rock and Tom Waits.
The winner of this year’s Shortlist will be announced in May.

GRIZZLY BEAR – Venus en mars à la Boule noire

The French has organized a lyrics context, with Grizzly Bear performing a new song based on the winning words at their recent Paris live show. The catch? The lyrics are au français, and Grizzly Bear can’t really parle. “We don’t speak French very well,” the atmospheric Brooklyn popsters admit. “So if you can understand it, raise your hands.”
